"There’s something magical in the air when she sings"

Loen is a distinctive singer-songwriter from Russia who pushes the boundaries of indie folk music with her work. Healing songs in English and Russian with an acoustic sound, mischievous folk elements and soulful lyrics. Sincere and tender like a sky blue flax flower, this music at the same time has an incredible power to heal hearts. At the age of 33, this courageous young woman decided to leave her native country and start her life from scratch in Germany. A dreamer and adventurer, she takes her listeners on a colorful musical journey, inspiring them to be honest and open-minded, to never give up and to be committed to their dreams:

„Go for all your magic dreams, I think that it's time to start a fire, time to tell the stories that I have inside…“

– "Rain and Wine", EP "Little Songs"

She is a girl from the northern Russian city of Arkhangelsk, where in winter the snow is up to her shoulders, and in summer the nights are as white as day. She absorbed the smell of forests and lingonberries with her childhood, and until she finished school she had no idea that she would connect her life with music. However, when she received a guitar as a gift from her father at the age of 14, she almost never parted with it, wrote songs and sang them around the campfire for her friends.

In spite of her parents, right after school she took a train and went to St. Petersburg, studied singing in college and earned her bread with covers for many years in the city on the Neva. For many years she searched for the way to herself and only in 2018 after graduating from the Institute of Culture and Art, she found like-minded people who loved her music and moved to Moscow to record her first single and then EP Album.

In November 2021 Loen launched a crowdfunding campaign in support of the new album and raised 100% of the amount in one month. The album was also supported by KOFI fund, for mastering and promotion. So, on June 16, 2023 Loen releases the album "Polotno".

Work on the album took place first against the backdrop of a pandemic, then the pressurizing mood of political events, and finally emigration. A flower that grew in the thick of a hurricane.

„The song “Polotno” grew into an album and I grew into a stronger and more whole person. We grew together. Three years after the album's conception, I saw that I was already a completely different person, and a new name for the project sprang up all by itself: Loen. Which means Linen - the healing plant.“

However, everything that had been collected by a little bit over the years - a loyal flock of fans, a long list of festivals, participation on Russian radio and TV - all the girl decides to leave, in 2022 beginning her studies at the Pop Akademie Baden-Württemberg.

“I knew it was irrational and hard to start from scratch in a new country without knowing the language, but I have always loved hiking and I am convinced that the higher the mountain, the more beautiful and wider the view from the top.”

In a new country, step by step making her way to success, she studies, teaches, performs in bars and festivals, and is already working on her next release, where she wants to reflect all the feelings she lives in emigration. Nebel (The Fog) is the name of Loen's next work. Nebel - as a symbol of the unknown, in which an adventurous woman from a small northern Russian town dives towards her dreams
